What the quote means and its context to the book.

The quote means that everyone has problems. If you think you are the only one with problems you're not.

You might have different problems then everyone else but they still have problems.

Cherry and Ponyboy are talking about the troubles and problems they have in their lives. Cherry is

saying that her and Ponyboy have different troubles. Ponyboy then realized that the socs do have troubles

and problems. They are just completely different than the ones the greasers have.

When Cherry said "things are rough all over" she meant that things are rough for the greasers

but things are rough for the socs to. The greasers have it rough when it comes to money, being jumped

and other small things that appear in life. The socs have it rough when it comes to stuff such as being

loved by their family and other things that may come up in lives.
